There was once a very quiet Englishman on holiday. He checked into a very nice small hotel in the countryside, and around 1 AM appeared at the front desk with a glass, asking the night manager if he could get a glass of water at the drinking fountain there in the lobby. After an "of course" from the manager the Englishman retreated to his room, only to appear a few minutes later with the same request, and got the same answer. The Englishman got the water, went back to his room, and was back only a few minutes later. On the fourth such incident the night manager said, "my, you must be very thirsty tonight". The Englishman replied very meekly, "no, it's just that my room is on fire". Any relationship between this parable and the current English monarch is strictly coincidence.
