The theoretical maximum possible score was 120. This round's actual maximum possible score was 66, achieved by Andrew York.
| Having just read the paper when I assigned categories last time, and being in a blue funk over the government's assault on our civil liberties and international reputation, all I could think of was intrusive "security" at airports. The judicial section of courthouses has become as bad with plate glass and bank teller drawers everywhere. As John noted, security at malls, or any large store, is old hat. I threw in the other places for variety and to see what people would say. Sounds like you all aren't as paranoid as I seem to be... Thanks to David C. for those essential items of information. Sorry you didn't score better with them. | |
| Andy: "I suppose I could say people' for every category, but......" | |
| Mall | Stores the big winner, here, of course. That is, if they have enough shoppers... |
| Andy: "(could be vendors, kiosks, strollers, but stores should cover it)" | |
| John Wilman says, "(staff)" These guys have been around for a while as theft prevention. | |
| Brendan adds, "valley girls..." | |
| Kevin says, "I found this one hard as nothing leapt out in my mind. I suspect you will get a large range of answers" | |
| Ellissa says, "These are my alternate answers, which I will refrain from using, but was tempted to: Very freaky-looking teens." | |
| City Hall | The mayor and politicians lead with three?! What does this say about our relationships with local government? |
| Andy: "(red tape aka paperwork, what else.....chairs?)" | |
| Dave Partridge says, "I'm tempted to say bribes (<:" You'd probably be right... | |
| Kevin says, "I also thought of lawyers but who wants to give them notice" Gag! Two of us did... | |
| Ellissa says, "Incompetent lazy folks pretending to be busy." | |
| Park | Most of us seem to think trees essential to a park. I'd agree, but also add that we should have more trees elsewhere. Glad to see, or rather, not see, "security" mentioned in this one. When "they" start spying on us in our parks, we'll know that it's too late. |
| Andy: "(dogs is probably the next biggest, blue sky, screaming out-of-control kidlings)" | |
| Dave Partridge says, "Benches comes to mind too" | |
| Ellissa says, "Not enough trees" | |
| Airport | "Airplanes" by any other name (and you lot used several) would fly as high. Everything else is incidental. Not what I expected, but nevertheless, ok by me. |
| Andy: "(trains and....oops, wrong category; luggage, tickets, security)" | |
| John Wilman says, "(bit of a no-brainer, surely?)" We'll see. At the time of your entry, I'd have said item 5: books best rated this comment. | |
| Kevin says, "I also considered security, display monitors, luggage and delays." | |
| Ellissa says, "Incompetent lazy folks pretending to be busy." | |
| Library | Towards the end there, I was kinda hoping you'd all agree on at least one category. Two of you dissappointed me. Tsk! |
| Andy: "(should win hands down)" | |
| Ellissa says, "DUST! As a librarian by trade, I know what I am speaking of..." | |
