FLOCK O' FLAMINGOS SET

"WHAT," I asked my friend Lea when she handed me her purchases from Embellishments, "do you expect me to do with a cheap resin pink flamingo cab? Put hours of expensive beadwork around it." She saw nothing wrong with the idea but I continued to snort until a lady from Florida named Judy asked me to bead for her around the same cab. I gave her pretty much the same answer and she chose another pattern but then I got to thinking of the challenge and picked up Lea's cab to see what I could do with it. I'd been to a couple more bead shows by then and had beads in suitable colors so several pinks and greens later, there was sort of a stylized flower around the cab, long bugles ending in small ceramic flamingos, matching peyote patterned earrings and a festive spiral strap with a few doodahs in it for fun. Seeing this, Judy decided to do her own flamingo cab but Lea loves hers. She murdered it with the seatbelt while in Scotland this year and I had to resuscitate the fringe, but now it's good as new.
