Half way
across we experienced a light chop on the water... not too bad, just
enough to make us pay attention. We took 5 minute breaks about every hour, to drink and eat a little. At
this point we had been in our boats for 3 hours. Sitting this long in
one position was starting to make itself known in our lower backs. |

It was an interesting
day of paddling. Even though we were always within a couple hundred feet
of each other, there were definite moments when we were by ourselves,
mixed with periods of conversation and mutual support. Of all the sports
I've participated in, this is the one that mixes solo and group experiences
the best. |

You can tell by
this shot that our support crew was getting a little bored with watching
us paddle. Sheryl began looking for more diverse and artistic ways to
photograph us. This is my favorite "art" shot of the day.
For those interested, she was using a SONY FD-95 Digital camera this
day. Pretty cool toy! |
