[Ellen Theisen Communications] [About My Macro Writing]

[Services - Home][Product Documentation][Illustrations][VBA Macros][Business Communications][Projects - Selected][Background] I began writing simple MS Word macros many years ago to speed up and enhance my documentation projects and to rid myself of some of the more tedious tasks. Then my clients began asking me to write macros for them.

Now, in addition to creating macros for my own use, I offer custom MS Word and MS Excel macros as part of my suite of services.

MS Word Macros

Here are some examples of specialized tasks my custom MS Word macros have accomplished for my clients:

[Sample dialog box for macro.]
Transferring survey responses from MS Word forms into MS Excel spreadsheets and performing calculations on the compiled responses.

Converting page numbers in the index to cross-references so Acrobat turns them into links when it generates a PDF file.

Customizing the results of an off-the-shelf program that converts a Windows help file to an RTF file.

MS Excel Macros

One of my favorite macros saves my client hours of tedious work each month when he downloads usage forecast data from his customer's web site. The data is virtually unusable in the original format.

The macro reformats the data, adds charts that bring the information to life, and inserts calculated fields with comments telling how the calculations were performed.
