Welcome to the Doodles' Dominion

These images aren't quite as clear as the originals (ain't that always the way?).

But you get the basic idea

I'll admit right now that some of my best work has been given to my closest friends (some created solely for them, in fact).   I've taken photographic and video documentation of all things I've sent away but none of the photos are quite sharp enough to use on this page (in my opinion).

Dreamcatcher.jpg (17930 bytes)

The first picture shown above, "The Castle", was actually an experimental landscape I am still working on (as you can see there aren't any substantial shadows under the trees).  There's not much else to tell about it really.  "Sandarus" is the name of a country in one of the stories I wrote that takes place in an parallel dimension.   The man in the picture is not human; as you can see he has twelve fingers (and toes though you can't see them) and a tail.  The picture was completed late last year and was a project I was eager to do because I wanted to draw his bizarre armor. "Dream Catcher" was an idea I actually got from a mattress commercial.  Funny where some of my inspiration comes from.  The message of this picture basically goes with that saying "Be Realistic, Demand the Impossible" (illustrated by her hand reaching for the moon).

dark.jpg (25704 bytes)fire.jpg (67219 bytes)

These two are called "Darkness" and "Fire Spirit".  I got the idea for "Darkness" from the video for The Smiths' song "How Soon is Now?"  "Fire Spirit" came to me while looking at the sunset one evening.  He's similar to "Sandarus" in that he has twelve fingers and a tail as well.

broken.jpg (113612 bytes) Shattered.jpg (247364 bytes)
The next two rows are all designs that I've done over the past few years.  For a while they were all I would do.  The first one, called "The Beast" was a basic experiment in shading. the bottom half wound up looking like a cave... a cave where some beast of some kind may be hiding; hence the name.  The next one "Broken", is one of the few designs that I've done in color.  I don't know how clearly you're seeing it, but when you stand back and look at it (the original) the juxtaposition of the grey and white against the fuchsia makes it looked three dimensional.  The third is one that I call "Shattered" (for obvious reasons).  This one took quite a lot of time what with all the careful shading.  All I can say about it is that it's one of my favorite designs.
Conjecture.jpg (223008 bytes) doorway.jpg (115483 bytes) TransdimesionalWindow.jpg (215324 bytes)
The first one of this row is called "Conjecture"... rather pretentious title, eh?  Actually I called it that because I didn't know what else to call it.  Also, because different people see different things when they look at it.  Some people see wings, others see water, etc... etc...   Beside it is "Doorway".  I was actually considering painting the door to my room to look like this but as of yet I haven't done it.  The last I called "Transdimensional Window". I'll explain the name;  I got image from a dream I had.  In the dream, each one of those triangular windows looked out over a different world.  So, there you have it.
